Volunteers make an extraordinary contribution to Australian society and the benefits of volunteering are many.  Without volunteers, many of the services ECS offers would not be possible. Members of our local community generously give their time, skills and energy to support our work.

ECS regularly require volunteers for both office and fieldwork roles. The tasks may involve:

  • Administration duties – answering phones, front of office enquiries, filing, photocopying, data entry etc

  • Assisting elderly clients with shopping

  • Home visiting

  • Assisting with social group activities – preparing/serving morning tea, setting up activities

  • Assisting on social/shopping bus outings

You may already provide support to people in the community on informal basis. When you volunteer with ECS, you join a community of like-minded individuals.

When you volunteer with ECS, you will be asked to complete some standard checks to protect both you and our customers. You may be asked to provide one or more of the following:

You will also be required to read and agree to an ECS Volunteer's Code of Conduct which sets out the requirements and expectations.

As an ECS volunteer you will:

  • Be covered by insurance - protecting both the volunteer and client

  • Be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses

  • Offered flexibility - one off or ongoing volunteering

  • Have the opportunity to gain work and life experience

  • Meet new people and make new friends
